Allocating the Abundant Future
The world is moving towards an abundant future. Self driving cars, automated vertical farming, 3D printing, Solar Panels, Cargo Drones and always connected internet is going to democratize development and bring the cost of basic living to near zero.
With all the current inequality in the world, it's fair to assume all these developmental leaps to be available to the richest of the counties while some parts of the world don't have basic running water.
However, there is a fundamental difference in the development mentioned above. The Next phase of development will be in self sustaining living that generate their own power, potentially community grown food with vertical farming and livestock. In a way the next phase of development seems to be going backward, back to the nature with 21st century technology integrated.
This is a good time to think about how Nepal can benefit from these global outputs. Previously we needed the government to build roads, Dams, take electrical poles and build schools for there to be a functioning community. But now, flying solar panels on the drones, making simple gadgets (laptops, tablets) and internet available to people brings all the the world's knowledge to them. The Cost of solar panels have dropped by 95% in the last decade making it a viable option. Starlink is installing thousands of satellites to low earth orbit that provides fast internet access to anywhere in the planet.
The next phase of development is small independent modules that can be transported anywhere with relatively small effort. There is no need to look at the government and expect it to do anything. It hasn't done anything on time in the past and we should not expect any different in the future.
